A conversation with Paola, artisan and owner of a small knitwear company.
Let’s start from the origins. When and why did your experience begin?
Ours is a small family owned business. Deliberately small I’d say, because it was a spin off from a large company. We wanted to devote ourselves more to the product, with more attention to details. So after 25 years of experience we set up our own company. That was 2007, and today we have 38 years of experience in the industry, always grounded in our region.
Speaking of your region, you are very attached to your territory.
For knitwear the Oscano area is a very rich territory. There is the tradition, the supply chain and the craftsmen with their know-how. There are no large industries in this area and this has allowed us to preserve an entirely artisanal, all-Italian supply chain.
Uniqueness. What sets you apart?
38 years of work with raw materials, working with them, choosing them, transforming them. In a modern process there may be a lot of technology, a lot of efficiency, but the hand, eyes, heart and experience of the craftsman are irreplaceable. We immediately recognise the quality of the raw material because we have been handling it every day for decades. Only by touching it we can sense the value of the final product.
After all these years, what excites you about your job?
What we do comes from our own hands, and when I see one of our knitwear products in a boutique or a shop I say to myself "I made that knitwear", and my heart fills with joy and pride.
We are proud to strictly produce with European artisans.
