The original Cable Knit Crew Neck was designed for the Maritime life and work around 1900. Women of the Aran Islands, in the west of Ireland, were knitting sweaters to keep men warm at sea. The garment, with its typical allover pattern, gained worldwide popularity in 1958, when Vogue magazine made an article on it. Soon after, superstars like Elvis Presley or Steve McQueen wore this sweater and made it a symbol of a classless fashion style. Our Cable Knit Crew Neck is made of 100% extrafine merino wool.
