Shell cordovan, or simply cordovan, is a luxurious leather type, used for high-end shoes like ours. Its name comes from the city of Cordoba, Spain, where it was first produced by the Visigoths in the seventh century. Very difficult and expensive to make, it is renowned for its aesthetic qualities and exceptional durability. Because it is made of connective tissue, it is smooth and lacks the pebbled effect of leather derived from animal skin.
